Firefighters tackle fire in Woodingdean

On 15th February at 15.04pm, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service received a call describing a fire at a property in Cowley Drive, Woodingdean, with a person possibly trapped inside the building.

Two fire engines from Preston Circus and Roedean were dispatched. A further fire engine from Preston Circus was then sent to the property following a subsequent emergency call.

When crews arrived they found severe smoke logging within the building and a fire on the ground floor. One elderly male had been rescued from the property by passers-by. Ambulance crews attended the scene and the casualty was treated for smoke inhalation. Firefighters tackled the fire using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet. A positive pressure ventilation (PPV) fan was used to disperse smoke.
