House fire in Telscombe Cliffs

A joint investigation between Sussex Police and East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) specialist fire investigators is underway following a fire at a house in Telscombe Cliffs over the weekend.

ESFRS fire investigators are currently working hard to identify the cause of the fire, which broke out at 3.55pm on Saturday (4th February).

Six appliances from East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service attended; two from Newhaven, as well as one from Roedean, Preston Circus, Seaford and Hove.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze with firefighting foam and one main hose reel jet. The Positive Pressure Ventilation Fan was also used to blow smoke from the building. A man was rescued from the fire but, sadly, later died in hospital.

The thoughts and condolences of the Service are with the man's family and friends at this very difficult time.
