Firefighters from East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service assisted at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision on the A259 at East Guldeford last Saturday (April 7th).

A 31-year-old man from St Leonards-on-Sea suffered fatal injuries after his blue Volkswagen Passat collided with an HGV on the A259, Folkestone Road, East Guldeford.

Police and emergency services attended the scene near Offens Farm shortly after 11pm.

The driver of the Passat was travelling eastbound when he crossed onto the opposite carriageway and collided head-on with the lorry which was travelling westbound.

A 43-year-old man from the Czech Republic, who was driving the HGV, suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital in Kent.

The road was closed for over six hours whilst forensic examinations were carried out and Highways cleared the road surface from debris.
