Road traffic collision at Southerham roundabout, Lewes

On 24th April at 11.33am, East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service received a call from Sussex Police regarding a road traffic collision on the A27, at the Southerham roundabout, Lewes.

The incident involved one heavy goods vehicle (HGV) carrying 2 tonnes of scrap, which had overturned. One person was trapped inside the vehicle.

Two fire appliances were immediately dispatched from Lewes and Newhaven, along with the technical rescue unit from Lewes. Crews used hydraulic equipment to release the casualty, who was subsequently transferred to hospital by Ambulance.
