ESFRS and St Leonards Academy working in partnership

An East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service (ESFRS) community safety events day was recently held with 26 Year 10 pupils at the Edinburgh Campus site of St Leonards Academy.

Speaking about the day, which took place on Wednesday July 4th, Gillian Dearman, Assistant Principal at St Leonards Academy, said:

"It was a great day. The young people were pleased to be working with the Fire Service and to have their ideas listened to."

ESFRS Youth Interventions Manager, Vicky Thomas, said:

“The event was an opportunity for ESFRS to consult with the students and explore ways in which we can engage with young people. It was a long and challenging day for all involved - with many ideas and suggestions being given during the discussions. The young people were enthusiastic and forthcoming and I’d like to thank everyone at St Leonards Academy for their support."
