Firefighters attend fatal RTC in Roedean
Firefighters were called to an incident in which a driver died after his car was in collision with an ambulance.
Two fire engines from Roedean and Brighton were called to Marine Drive, outside Roedean golf club, on Thursday 28th February at 10.40pm.
The 45-year-old driver of the Fiat Seicento sadly died at the scene and his passenger, a 43-year-old man, was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.
A member of the ambulance crew, which was on an emergency call, was slightly injured but was later discharged from hospital.
Fire crews remained at the scene until 11.30pm and assisted at the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the casualty from the wreckage. The road was closed to other drivers whilst firefighters worked alongside the other emergency services.
At this stage police are still investigating the circumstances of the collision and are asking anyone who saw what happened to contact Sussex Police.
