Technical Rescue Unit called out in Lewes

At 12.30am on 24th March, a fire appliance from Lewes was mobilised to a road traffic collision in Church Hill, Ringmer, to make the scene safe.

On arrival crews found a car had collided with a parked car, which had resulted in the parked car being pushed into a domestic garage and blocking the entrance to the adjacent house. One female driver was taken to hospital.

Crews assisted recovery in making the scene safe and undertook a check of the structures, On inspection it was found the garage had suffered significant impact which compromised the gas and mains electric to the property.

Prior to the amenity engineers entering the property to ensure the services were safe, the Technical Rescue Unit was requested from Lewes. The team spent just over one hour working with building control to make the building safe, enabling engineers to carry out appropriate safety checks.

Crews left the scene at 03.10am.
