Brighton firefighters attended a kitchen fire in Hollingdean where a man had to be treated at the scene.
Upon arrival, two crews from Brighton and one crew from Hove discovered a man, in his forties, suffering from smoke inhalation and gave him oxygen therapy. Paramedics were called to attend the incident.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property in Tavistock Down, on 17th May at 7.46pm, and tackled the fire using one hose reel.
Crews remained at the scene until 20.22pm and carried out a ‘hot fire strike’ of the area, which involves posting home safety leaflets to other residents to ensure they have a working smoke alarm in their properties, as well as being aware of the fire in their area.
The cause of the fire was deemed accidental and a home safety visit was carried out following the incident by crews.
