Operations scaled back at St Leonards fire

East Sussex Fire and Rescue have scaled back operations at the scene of a serious fire at a six-storey building in St Leonards.

As of 17:30, five pumps and two aerial ladder platforms remain at Marlborough House at Warrior Square.

Emergency services were called out at 8.38 on the morning of 28 July 2013.

Police and ambulance also attended.

At its height, around 55 firefighters were involved in tackling the fire. Eleven pumps, three aerial ladder platforms, a water bowser, breathing apparatus, foam and main jets were all used during the fire.


A fire investigation will be carried out in due course.

Neighbouring properties were evacuated and residents were led to safety.
