Update on fire at Warrior Square in St Leonards

East Sussex Fire and Rescue crews remain at a six-storey building in St Leonards after being called out at 8.38 this morning (28 July).

They have been tackling a serious fire at Marlborough House at Warrior Square.

Police and ambulance services were also mobilised.

Two people were rescued and neighbouring properties evacuated.
Eleven pumps attended, as well as a water bowser, control unit and control team and three aerial ladder platforms.

Crews used eight breathing apparatus, foam and main jets.

The aerial ladder platforms were used to tackle the fire from the outside.
 

A fire investigation will be carried out in due course.

The Red Cross' Fire Support Unit was also called to assist those affected by the fire.
