Heating oil tank leak, Catsfield

On 28thAugust at 6.21pm, crews from Battle responded to an incident at a property on Catsfield Road, Catsfield where a domestic heating oil tank was leaking.

The tank was 1200ltrs in size and the rupture to the tank was halfway down, risking approximately 600ltrs of heating oil entering the environment.

Crews managed to stop and contain the leak, by syphoning off the heating oil to below the rupture level to allow for expansion.

Group Manager, Graham Gray, said: “We advise all households to regularly have their tank inspected to ensure they are well maintained and fit for purpose.”
