Emergency response continues during strike - small number of incidents attended

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service have continued to respond to emergency calls during industrial action by members of the Fire Brigades Union on 1 November 2013 (18:30-23:00).
As of 21.45 we had received a small number of emergency calls.
These included:
  • Reports of smoke in Hove at 19.39 – small fire (accidental) - nothing in use by crews
  • Reports of the smell of burning in Brighton at 20.45 - crew attended but no action was needed as it turned out to be a false alarm of good intent
  • Flooding affecting electrics in Hove at 21:10 – crew attended and found flooding affecting electrics from 3rd floor flat roof - crews sheeting up with salvage sheets
  • Reports of a shed alight in Sidley in Bexhill at 21:38 - crews sent to scene
A further update will be provided once the strike has ended.
