Fire in St. Matthews Gardens, Hastings



On 30th January at 14.58, East Sussex Fire & Rescue received a call to a detached house in St. Matthews Gardens, Hastings.

Two fire appliances from Hastings Bohemia Road and The Ridge along with an Arial Ladder Platform were dispatched to the scene.

Crews confirmed the ground and first floor of the property were well alight.

Additional appliances were sent from Bexhill and Battle. Further appliances were then sent from Bexhill and Rye. The Incident Command Unit from Lewes was also dispatched along with the Fire Victim Support Unit.

Crews used four breathing apparatus, two jets and a hydrant to tackle the blaze. Three people were led to safety by crews

At 15.44, an informative was received outlining the incident was under control, the Aerial Ladder Platform was in use for observation, breathing apparatus crews had been withdrawn from the incident and ventilation was in progress.
