Crews from Eastbourne and Hailsham have dealt with a cooker fire on Stanier Street in Hailsham.
Neighbours dialled 999 at 18.57 last night (16 January) when they heard an alarm sounding and smelt burning.
On arrival, firefighters used breathing apparatus and one hose reel to tackle a small fire.
There are no reports of injuries.
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people of the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their properties.
