East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is warning the public to be extra vigilant during late night strikes in the coming days.
A morning strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union took place between 6am and 8am today (18 July).
Our contingency crews attended two fire alarms - both in Brighton and both turned out to be false alarms.
Further industrial action in the dispute over pensions takes places on the following times and days:
• July 18th 2014 between 2300hrs and 0100hrs (19 July)
• July 19th 2014 between 1100hrs and 1300hrs & 2300hrs and 0100hrs (20 July)
• July 20th 2014 between 1700hrs and 1900hrs
• July 21th 2014 between 0600hrs and 0800hrs & 1700hrs and 1900hrs
With storms forecast for Saturday, drivers are being asked to slow down and drive according to the road conditions.
There are also strikes late at night tonight and on Saturday. Anyone enjoying a night on the town is being asked to take extra care, to grab a takeaway instead of cooking when they get home and to make sure they put out any cigarettes properly before going to sleep.
Pass it on and Stay Safe
The public's also being reminded of our stay safe message to help reduce the need to call 999.
Smoke alarms save lives – fit them properly and test them regularly
Avoid distractions – whether behind the wheel, out and about or cooking paying attention helps keep you safe
Family and friends might need help – check in on them and share our advice
