Lightning thought to have caused Portslade house fire

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service was called out in the early hours of this morning (01:55 on 18 July) to reports of a house alight following a lightning strike.

Two fire engines from Hove were sent to an address on Mile Oak Road in Portslade.

Crews used main jets and breathing apparatus to tackle the fire in the bungalow.

After the fire was out, they spent time cutting away and damping down before assisting with salvage.

There are no reports of injuries.
