Normal cover has been resumed at East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service following a two hour strike by the Fire Brigades Union which started 11pm on Saturday 19 July and ended 1am Sunday 20 July.
Contingency crews were on duty and we attended two incidents: a lift rescue involving 12 people in Brighton and a car fire in Hastings.
A further strike takes place between 5pm and 7pm today (20 July), followed by two strikes on Monday - the first between 6am-8am and the second 5pm-7pm. These are part of industrial action in the dispute with Government over pensions.
Cover will be reduced during these times. Advice on how to stay safe and reduce the need to call 999 can be found here: http://www.esfrs.org/about_us/industrialaction.shtml
