East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service has returned to normal levels of cover following a two hour strike this afternoon (20 July 2014).
Members of the Fire Brigades Union took industrial action between 5pm and 7pm as part of the ongoing dispute over pensions with the Government.
During this time, contingency crews were on duty ready to respond to emergencies. We attended a number of incidents: rubbish on fire in Brighton, a fire in the open in Westham and an RTC.
There are two more strikes on Monday 21 July - one between 6am-8am and another 5pm-7pm. Drivers, bikers and cyclists are being reminded to take extra care while on the roads during these times.
