Reminder to public to take extra care during four day strike

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is reminding members of the public that a four day strike by members of the Fire Brigades Union begins at 6pm today (31 October 2014).

It is expected to be a popular weekend for bonfire and fireworks celebrations and the Service is asking people to attend organised displays rather than having their own.

The strike continues until 6pm on 4 November. Contingency crews made of non-FBU members will still respond to emergencies, prioritising where lives are at risk, but cover will be reduced and the public is being asked to do what they can to reduce the need to call 999.

A new video of the Chief Fire Officer Des Prichard is available on YouTube, explaining safety advice for members of the public http://youtu.be/wVzOGU7UyuI
