Firefighters at scene of fire in Newhaven

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene of a fire on an industrial estate in Newhaven.

Crews were initially called out at 10.30 yesterday morning (5th December 2014) to Skip It containers following reports rubbish was alight.

There are currently eight fire engines at the site on North Quay Road along with the Incident Command Unit.

Sussex Police have put cordons in place and people are being urged to avoid the area.

The Environment Agency has also been informed.

There are no reports of injuries.

The incident is expected to be ongoing for several hours.
