Eight crews from East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service were sent to a fire at the derelict Sports and Social Club in Sidley at the weekend.
Crews battled throughout the night following an emergency call at 10.24pm on Saturday (28th February).
Twelve firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze, as well as using one monitor, along with four hose reel jets. The fire spread into the roof and severely damaged the building.
Crews spent time damping down and checking for any hot spots throughout the night, to ensure that the fire did not reignite.
Firefighters remained at the scene until 11.07am the following morning (1st March) and a full fire investigation got underway.
Following the investigation, the most likely cause of the fire is believed to have been deliberate.
